Disability Advisory Committee
Disability Advisory Committees are a requirement for all State Agencies as per Government Code Section 19795(b). The committee acts in an advisory capacity to the Secretary/Undersecretary on matters relating to employees with disabilities.
Some of those issues include, but are not limited to:
- Ensuring that the Department is in compliance with all State and Federal laws pertaining to disabled rights in the workplace (the Federal Americans with Disabilities Act [ADA] and the State Fair Employment and Housing Act [FEHA]),
- creating recruitment strategies to increase our disabled workforce,
- providing training for all staff on disability awareness,
- ensuring equal employment opportunity for disabled employees/applicants in all aspects of the work arena.
DACs are subject to the Bagley-Keene Open Meeting Act.
