If you have a CalVet Loan and are planning to obtain a second mortgage or make significant improvements to your property, you will need to complete our Consent to Encumber form. Download the form, fill it out and fax (or mail) it to us following the directions on the form. (This form is in Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format. To read and print it you must have the Adobe Acrobat Reader which may be downloaded from Adobe here.)

Second mortgages include:

  • Second Trust Deeds
  • Home Equity Loans
  • Home Equity Lines of Credit

If requesting approval for a second mortgage, you will need to have your lender fill in some of the requested information.

Included in significant improvements are any new constructions which are permanant and affixed to the buildings or grounds, such as:

  • In-ground swimming pools
  • Room additions
  • Decks and patios

Not included are:

  • Repairs to existing buildings, such as a new roof
  • Structures not permanently affixed to the property, such as most above-ground swimming pools
