Veterans Cemeteries
The Northern California Veterans Cemetery
What Once Was a Mere Dream is Now Reality
Construction finished on the long-awaited state veterans cemetery in Shasta County in December 2005.
Thanks to a combination of federal state and county funds, and the tireless efforts of many, veterans
in the northern California region has a new state benefit in the form of dignified military burials.
A dedication ceremony took place on November 11, 2005.
The Northern California Veterans Cemetery (NCVC) is the first state-owned and operated veterans cemetery in the Golden State. The cemetery
serves the veteran population in eighteen Northern California counties and the currently developed area of the cemetery provides sufficient
burial space for more than thirty years. Beyond that, the cemetery has the capacity for expansion. Any eligible veteran, along with spouses
and eligible dependents, may be interred at the cemetery (see eligibility requirements).
