The California Vietnam Veterans Memorial Commission
A nine-member commission to oversee the project was appointed soon after the legislation was signed.
Five members were appointed by Governor Deukmejian; one by Assembly Speaker Willie Brown; and one by
Senate President Pro Tem David Roberti. Two non-voting members of the Legislature were also appointed.
Commission members were as follows:

- Abel A. Cota, Secretary *
- B.T. Collins, Member *
- Don A. Drumheller, Member *
- Jesse G. Ugalde, Member *
- Assemblyman Richard E. Floyd, Non-voting Member
- Senator Jim Ellis, Non-voting Member *
Jerri L. Ewen served as the Commission's Executive Director
