Search the California Vietnam Veterans Memorial

Visitors may search the California Vietnam Veterans Memorial listing by the veterans name, and by county or city. Entry into any field is optional. The results of a search will reflect all of the entries into any of the fields. This means that if you select "Sonoma County" and "Smith" from their respective fields, the search results will contain only names from Sonoma County that begin with "Smith".

Below is an explanation of the types of field entries:

County: Search for names in one of California's 58 counties by selecting the county name from the dropdown list.

City: Search for names of veterans from a particular city by entering the city's name in the field provided. If a search for a name in a particular city is unsuccessful, carefully check your spelling or try entering the name of another city nearby. If you are uncertain about the exactly spelling of a city's name, you may enter just the beginning of the name. For instance, entering "Santa C" will list names from Santa Clara and Santa Cruz, but not from Santa Nella.

Note: If both a county and a city are selected, the results will contain only names from cities in the selected county. For instance, if you selected Alameda County and entered "s" in the city field, the results would contain names from San Leandro and San Lorenzo, but not San Francisco.

Name: You may enter the veteran's last name, first name or both. If you are uncertain about the exactly spelling of a name, you may enter just the beginning of the name. For instance, entering "Bart" in the Last Name field will list names such as "Bartle," "Bartlett" or "Bartholomew". Entering a single initial will list all the names beginning with that letter. For instance, enter "K" in the First Name field will list veterans with first names such as "Karl," "Kenneth" or "Kevin".

Records per Page: This determines the maximum number of names that will display on a single page. You may select between 10, 25, 50 or 100. Setting records per page to 10 or 25 will require less scrolling but more pages. Setting the records per page to a larger value such as 50 or 100 will more likely result in all of the records being displayed on one page, which may be useful for printing.

Sort By: Selecting "Last Name" will cause the program to display all of the names found in alphabetical order by last name. Selecting "County/City" will cause the names to be sorted alphabetically, first by county, then by city, and finally by last name.
